A woman from the future is looking for me.
To her, I am an old book,
a yellowing manuscript,
at best, a decayed, antique memory chip.
To me, she is a new technology
composed of unknown materials that I can’t even see:
a gleaming futurity--
with rights that were our ecstasies.
Lorraine Schein is a New York writer. Her work has appeared in Strange Horizons, VICE Terraform, Syntax and Salt, and Little Blue Marble and in the anthologies Tragedy Queens: Stories Inspired by Lana del Rey & Sylvia Plath, Eighteen (Underland Press) and Community of Magic Pens.
